Our clients approached us with a clear goal: to create a spacious new kitchen that could better support their growing family. The existing kitchen was too small, and the home lacked a dedicated dining area for everyday meals and family gatherings.
Their vision was to build a single-storey extension for a brand-new kitchen, allowing the existing kitchen to be transformed into a proper dining space connected to the living area.

The challenge was to reorganise the ground floor so that each space had a clear purpose while maintaining practical circulation throughout the home.
The proposal needed to provide a generously sized and functional kitchen within the extension while ensuring the converted dining area connected naturally with the existing living room. It was also important that the new kitchen felt integrated with the rest of the home rather than like a separate addition.

Following discussions with the clients and a careful review of the existing layout, we developed a single-storey extension dedicated to the new kitchen.
Relocating the kitchen into the extension allowed the former kitchen to become a dedicated dining area. This created a more open and sociable living-and-dining space while keeping the new kitchen as its own clearly defined area.
The proposed layout was carefully planned around everyday movement, kitchen functionality, natural light and the changing needs of the growing family.
🏡 The Outcome So Far
The planning application has now been submitted to the local council and is currently awaiting a decision.
If approved, the proposal will transform the restrictive ground-floor arrangement into a much more practical family home. The extension will provide a spacious, purpose-designed kitchen, while the former kitchen will become the dedicated dining area the home is currently missing.
Together, the new spaces will create a better balance between cooking, dining and relaxing, giving the growing family a home that can support their needs now and in the future.
